An upgrade revitalising Doncaster's Ayr Street shopping district is now complete, with local and nearby residents invited to come along and celebrate Manningham's latest Placemaking success.
From 11.00am to 1.00pm, Saturday 4 December, residents are invited to the official launch of the new upgraded Ayr Street shopping strip.
Manningham Mayor Cr Michelle Kleinert said the strip has been transformed into an attractive, well-planned space with landscaping and greening to improve community connection and accessibility.
"It's already been a hit with nearby residents, with many making use of the beautiful outdoor gathering spaces since restrictions lifted," she said.
Cr Kleinert said the upgrade came about from a local trader wanting to extend their outdoor dining area.
"We recognised the innovative idea and revitalised the whole centre as part of our placemaking and capital works project," she said.
The official launch will include street performers Fur Ball and Shorty, and treats from local business Kat's Cakes.
The upgrade is funded through the Victorian Government Local Councils Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package (LGA Stream) Round 1 to develop more useable community spaces for our post-Covid recovery.
