Backing in Territory construction industry

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is backing local businesses and creating thousands of jobs, with nearly one billion dollars invested in Northern Territory construction in 2022.

By putting local jobs and local businesses first, the Territory Labor Government's Infrastructure Plan provides certainty for our construction industry.

In 2022, 543 construction contracts were awarded and 540 of them went to Northern Territory enterprises, with a value of $987 million dollars.

73 contracts awarded went to Aboriginal Business Enterprises, at a value of $147 million and accounting for 13.4% of all contracts.

We ended the year strongly, with the final quarter of 2022 seeing 121 construction contracts awarded at a value of $237 million with 100% of these awarded to Northern Territory Enterprises, supporting 417 direct and 790 indirect jobs.

Investment in a strong and steady pipeline of projects supports business and industry, and employs thousands of Territorians.

Quotes from Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler:

"Investment in a strong and steady pipeline of projects supports business and industry, and employs thousands of Territorians.

By putting local businesses first, we're putting the Territory in the best position to grow our economy, and create lasting infrastructure that supports the community."
