An unsuspecting Ballarat man was about to cook breakfast when a call he thought was from a friend turned out to be us confirming he'd snapped up $20 million in last night's Oz Lotto draw.
The Victorian player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1684 on Tuesday 26 May 2026.
In addition to his division one bounty, he also scored division 3 seven times bolstering his total prize to $20,037,278.15.
When speaking with us, the 30-year-long Oz Lotto player shared it was his weekly "set and forget" ticket that delivered him the division one win.
"It says I've won 20million dollars?! That can't be right?" he said when speaking with us.
"I'm a bit stunned right now.
"I've been playing Oz Lotto for 30 years. You just never think it will happen, and when it does it's mind-blowing.
"This wasn't the phone call I was expecting. I actually thought you were a friend calling me.
"It doesn't feel real right now. I'll need some time to let it sink in."
Despite still coming to terms with the enormity of his win, the generous winner wasted no time thinking of how he'd help his nearest and dearest loved ones.
"It will allow me to help my close family and friends," he said.
"I'm already thinking of how much money I'll distribute to my siblings.
"There's no way I could spend it all on myself.
"I'll wait until I see the zeros in my bank account and then some celebrations will be in order."
The winning System 8 entry was purchased at The Lott website - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
