Ballymanus Central Park begins to take shape in Ballarat West Growth Area

Construction of Ballarat's newest public park has begun.

The $1.7 million Ballymanus Central Park has been funded by the Ballarat West Development Contributions Plan.

The park is located on four hectares in the Ballymanus Estate in Alfredton, which is the Ballarat West growth Area.

The new park will feature a wide range of facilities for community use, including a grassed oval, skate and scooter track, multi-use court, picnic area and barbecues.

Ballymanus Central Park is being built by Ballarat-based construction firm Enoch Civil, on behalf of the City of Ballarat, and is expected to be complete by the end of this year.

City of Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh said the park would be an important gathering and recreation space for current and future Alfredton and Winter Valley residents to enjoy.

"Ballymanus Central Park will help make sure residents in the Ballarat West Growth Area have the same access to great parks and recreational facilities that are enjoyed across our city."

"Our parks and gardens have always been a hallmark of Ballarat, and facilities like this will make them a feature of our newest suburbs as well.

"This shows exactly why the Ballarat West Development Contributions Plan is in place: so that vital infrastructure like parks, intersections and drains are funded and can be built when they are needed in our key growth area."

"As this area grows, these facilities will ensure our newest communities are great places to live from the start."
