Bank@Post update – ANZ

Australia Post is proud of the role our community Post Offices play in providing vital delivery, government and banking services in communities Australia-wide, many of which are run by small business operators.

Australia Post had approached all major banks to pay the same Community Representation Fee and a variable transaction charge to continue to offer Bank@Post services after flagging we could no longer continue to provide this essential service at a loss. The Community Representation Fee is critical for investment in local Post Offices providing the service. We appreciate the support of three of the four major banks – Commonwealth, NAB and Westpac - who have agreed to this fair deal.

Whilst ANZ remains an important partner with Australia Post and we respect their decision, it is disappointing they have decided to cease support for the essential Bank@Post service, with personal banking deposit and withdrawal services stopping from 15 January 2019. There are 1550 communities across the country where there is no bank and rely on their local Post Office for access to critical financial services.

We are committed to assisting ANZ customers at this time. Any customers with questions or concerns about their ongoing banking arrangements are encouraged to contact the Bank@Post team on our dedicated helpline 1800-792-017 or email [email protected].
