Bank robber busted Geelong

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have arrested a man following their investigation into an alleged bank robbery earlier this year.

It is alleged a man armed with a firearm attended the bank on Pakington Street, Geelong West about 3.30pm on 30 April, before fleeing with a small amount of cash.

No shots were fired, and no one was physically injured during the incident.

On Saturday afternoon, detectives arrested a 47-year-old Corio man at Avalon Airport.

He was interviewed and subsequently charged with one count of armed robbery.

The Corio man was remanded in custody to appear Geelong Magistrates Court on 6 August.
