Some of Bass Coast’s finest produce will feature on the menu of a new Melbourne restaurant that aims to source much of its fare from the Gippsland region.
Local herbs, beer and wine will be showcased on the menu at Farmer’s Daughters, with the potential for more Bass Coast producers to be featured as time goes on.
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said the restaurant was an exciting new venture and is looking forward to seeing more Bass Coast brands on the menu.
“We support anything that helps our local businesses grow, after the incredibly hard year we have just had – this venture is sure to be a welcome boost for some of our local producers,” Cr Tessari said.
“Our region is home to some of the country’s best producers, so putting a spotlight on that is a great initiative. We know how great it is, now the rest of the state will as well.
“I’m sure that this restaurant will become a great advertisement for our region and will encourage people to visit, so they can experience everything we have to offer, first hand,” Cr Tessari concluded.
The restaurant is a passion project of Gippsland’s Food and Beverage Ambassador Alejandro Saravia, which will help bring a piece of Regional Victoria to the city.
“Farmer’s Daughters brings a sense of place for everyone that wants to discover Gippsland and I want to help share this vision whilst shining a spotlight on what I believe to be one of the most important farming regions in Australia,” Mr Saravia said.
“Off the back of the devastating bushfires and in the wake of a pandemic, supporting regional Victoria on the road to recovery has never been so important.”
