Baw Baw Shire Council has today announced the appointment of Ms Sally Jones as the organisation's Acting Chief Executive Officer.
Sally will commence with Baw Baw Shire on 6 January and has been contracted until 3 February 2026, due to the CEO delegation allowing for the appointment of an Acting CEO for a maximum of 28 days.
With more than 25 years in local government, Sally brings a wealth of experience and a thoughtful, values-based approach to leadership. Having worked across metropolitan, rural and semi-rural councils, she understands the different needs and opportunities of local communities.
Sally is known for her practical, people-focused style and for bringing clarity and positive momentum in complex environments.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson acknowledged Mr Mick Cummins for leading and supporting the organisation while Chief Executive Officer Tilla Buden focuses on treatment and recovery following a breast cancer diagnosis.
"We thank Mr Cummins for leading Council and value the contribution he has made in a short time, and we understand he can no longer continue with us in this role due to pre-existing commitments," Cr Wilson said.
"We now welcome Ms Sally Jones to the temporary leadership role. We remain committed to supporting Tilla every step of her journey as she focuses on her health and wellbeing.
"Sally and Tilla will connect and collaborate during this period, and the Councillor group will continue to work through longer-term logistics and organisational impacts, ensuring all staff and the wider community are informed of any developments along the way."
Chief Executive Officer Tilla Buden wishes all of our Baw Baw Shire community a happy and safe holiday season.
"I thank everyone for their support and am looking forward to joining the team when I can in the new year," Ms Buden said.
