Bay Of Fires Lights Up Tassie

Tasmanian Government

More than 100 Tasmanians have been employed, and millions of dollars have been spent locally during the filming of season 2 of Bay of Fires.

Supported by a Tasmanian Government investment of $1.7 million, the new season of the ABC series ploughed $8.16 million into the community, including $1.4 million on the West Coast alone.

Minister for the Arts and Heritage, Madeleine Ogilvie, said that the Tasmanian Government was proud to support screen arts.

"Investing in screen arts brings real benefits: not just to our image globally, but to businesses and communities locally, particularly in regional areas during those quieter winter months," Minister Ogilvie said.

"That's not to mention the invaluable and hands-on experience that over a hundred of our screen workers were able to gain during production.

"Local productions such as Bay of Fires enable us to share with the world our unique stories, talent and locations."

Series producers Archipelago Productions and Fremantle Media Australia spent $634,733 on accommodation on the West Coast alone.

Bay of Fires is one of several series filmed in Tasmania in 2024, including Netflix's The Survivors and season 3 of SBS's Alone Australia.

The series will air on ABC on 15 June, with all episodes being released on ABC iView that day.
