A chance encounter in a junk shop provided a spark of inspiration for Carmel Wallace's Waiting for the summer rain. This poetic assemblage is constructed from upcycled vintage wooden platters, many of which were saved from their imminent demise in a junk shop's heater.
Wallace says, "My walks through regenerating forests with their charcoaled tree trunks and tracks strewn with blackened leaves also inspired this work. It is often our personal connection to the natural world that sparks our imagination and leads us to consider the bigger picture".
