Bayside Boosts Sport and Recreation Opportunities for All

Have you ever experienced a biased culture at a sports club? Have you faced participation barriers when you have wanted to be involved in recreational activities? Perhaps you, or someone you know, have felt their opportunities and pathways in sport and recreation have been impacted by inequality or unfairness?

The Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria, has developed a landmark Fair Access in Sport Policy Roadmap to ensure community sporting environments are welcoming, accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Fair and reasonable access to sports and recreational infrastructure, services and opportunities is important in Bayside. In response to the roadmap, we've drafted a Fair Access Policy and a Fair Access Policy Action Plan. The policy aligns with the 6 guiding principles as set out by Victoria's Office of Woman in Sport and Recreation and aligns with Victoria's Gender Equality Act 2020.

We're seeking your feedback and ideas on the draft policy and action plan to help bridge the gap in sport and active recreation in Bayside.

Visit our Have Your Say page before the consultation closes on Sunday, 21 April 2024.
