Bayside Library Multilingual Collections

Bayside Council's library network maintains a collection of items in various community languages that help encourage reading in first languages.

Many residents in our diverse community speak a language other than English at home.

Bayside Library sources books for all ages in community languages such as Arabic, Bengali, Croatian, French, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Macedonian, Mongolian, Nepalese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Tagalog, Ukrainian and Vietnamese

This collection also includes bilingual children picture books that are useful for early literacy programs.

If we do not have a book in your language library staff can request one from another library in Australia.

This includes books from the State Library of NSW via the free Multicultural Bulk Loan Service upon the request. This includes books in Bulgarian, Burmese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, German, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Maltese, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Sinhalese, Slovak, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Tibetan, Turkish and Urdu.
