At the September Council meeting, Council resolved to:
- endorse the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism "Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities."
- acknowledge the increase of antisemitism within Bayside and affirms its commitment to support community cohesion.
- explore a strategy that will provide meaningful action associated with leadership, planning, advocacy, community engagement, public education and awareness to support social cohesion that addresses but is not limited to antisemitism.
- affirm that the safety and inclusion of the Jewish community is an integral part of Bayside, and that Council will work tirelessly to foster social cohesion within the municipality free from hatred, discrimination, and indifference.
