Be Prepared: A New Home For Carrum Downs Scouts Group

The Carrum Downs Scouts Group will have a new permanent home, thanks to $250,000 from the Andrews Labor Government.

Treasurer Tim Pallas joined Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny to announce the funding, which will go towards the project.

The new facility will include a mezzanine for meeting rooms, timber flooring, heating and cooling. It will also have a kitchen area, an indoor adventure playground and space that can be used by the wider community.

Currently, the Carrum Downs Scouts operate out of a pavilion at the Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve, however they have to relocate as part of the extensive redevelopment underway.

The Carrum Downs Scout Group currently has 95 members and includes young people from across the area.

As noted by Treasurer Tim Pallas

"This funding will ensure the Scouts have a home in Carrum Downs, which is terrific for the local community.’

As noted by Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny

"Carrum Downs Scouts give so much to our community, especially our young people. I am so glad we can now help them with their new home."
