Become Seniors Exercise Park Champion

If you're passionate about healthy ageing and supporting others, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community.

With three Seniors Exercise Parks now open across Knox, we are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help older residents learn to use the purpose-built outdoor fitness equipment safely and confidently.

No special qualifications needed - just a willingness to learn and a desire to help others enjoy the benefits of outdoor activity. All Champions will receive full training to support older adults as they participate in exercise sessions at the parks.

What is a Seniors Exercise Park Champion?

A Champion is a trained volunteer who helps older adults use the outdoor exercise equipment safely. They create a welcoming environment, demonstrate exercises, encourage participation, and promote active ageing in the community.

Do I need a fitness or health background?

No. An interest in healthy ageing is helpful, but professional qualifications aren't required. All training and ongoing support are provided.

How much time do I need to commit?

Champions typically volunteer 1-2 hours per week. "Come and Try" sessions are usually held during school terms in Spring and Autumn (February-April and September-November). Flexible arrangements, including shared roles or substitutes, can be organised.

What if I'm not confident leading a group?

That's completely fine. Champions support sessions - they don't lead them. You'll have guidance, resources, and the option to shadow others until you feel comfortable. You'll also enjoy the wellbeing benefits of using the equipment yourself.
