The Western Downs will welcome some of Australia's leading grain fed beef industry professionals this month, with the Dalby Regional Saleyards selected as a key stop on the ALFA BeefEx Conference Pre Tour on Monday 21 September 2026.
Hosted by the Australian Lot Feeders' Association (ALFA), BeefEx is the premier biennial conference celebrating the sector's achievements, bringing together key service providers and industry partners to gain valuable insight into the latest products, technologies, and research shaping the future of the sector.
Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Business Strategy and Economic Development, Councillor Megan James said the visit showcases the confidence, innovation, and the role the Dalby Regional Saleyards plays in the future of Australia's feedlot sector.
"The Western Downs agricultural sector continues to be the backbone of our economy and our identity," Cr James said.
"We understand the value that feedlots bring to regional communities through employment opportunities and investment to support industry growth.
"The Western Downs region supports a large amount of the industry's feedlot operations with almost 44 per cent of Australia's feedlot capacity located within 200 kilometres of the Dalby Regional Saleyards.
"This demonstrates the critical role our region plays in supporting the national beef industry, and the continued investment in infrastructure to support us as a leader in agriculture.
The Dalby Regional Saleyards visit forms part of the lead-up to BeefEx 2026, which is expected to welcome more than 900 delegates from across the grain fed beef supply chain to the Gold Coast from 22 to 24 September.
"Having industry leaders visit the Dalby Regional Saleyards provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our region's expertise, innovation, and the strong partnerships that continue to drive the success of the region's agricultural sector," Cr James said.
"We're proud of the confidence that the livestock industry places in the Dalby Regional Saleyards, and the role our region plays in shaping the future of Australian agriculture."
