This is an image of James Street in Beenleigh, which will be upgraded over coming months.

Works to improve safety on James St in Beenleigh will get underway this month.

The works include upgrading the drainage and road pavement and replacing a section of footpath on the northern side of James St.

The works will happen between the Milne St/Hammel St roundabout and the Zander St intersection.

New kerb and channel will be installed in sections that do not have kerbing.

Gully pits, drainage pipes and culverts will also be installed where required.

Local residents and road users can expect changed traffic conditions during the works and should plan for delays.

Two way traffic flow will be maintained where possible.

Works are expected to continue until March next year.
