Belgravia Leisure, a part of Belgravia Health and Leisure Group Pty Ltd, has been appointed as the new operator of the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre following a public tender process.

Belgravia Leisure currently manages more than 160 swimming pools for clients in Australia and New Zealand, and has over 30 years of experience in delivering aquatic and leisure services to communities across the country.

The contract will see Belgravia Leisure operate the Centre from July 1, 2026 for an initial period of 3 years, with options for two additional to 3-year extensions subject to performance.

Council's General Manager, Jay Nankivell, congratulated Belgravia on their successful tender, and thanked outgoing operator YMCA for their service to the community.

"In 2025 we undertook a thorough service review of the Aquatic Centre with significant community consultation, along with a comprehensive tender process to ensure we'd done our due diligence around the future operation of the Centre and the community's needs and expectations," he said.

"The decision hasn't been made lightly, and we want to sincerely thank the YMCA for their previous 10 years operating the facility. They've made a significant contribution to the community through the Aquatic Centre, and will continue to do so via their main centre in Chloride Street.

"I look forward to the ongoing success of the Aquatic Centre as one of the premier community assets in the city, and wish Belgravia well on their new venture."

Belgravia Leisure CEO Nick Cox said Belgravia Leisure was honoured to be appointed manager and operator of Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre.

"Belgravia Leisure is proud to partner with Broken Hill City Council to manage this wonderful facility. Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre is designed to be a community space, with facilities and activities welcoming all ages and abilities, including children, families, youth, community groups and those with special needs," he said.

"We are looking forward to welcoming those from the Broken Hill region to enjoy all that these facilities have to offer, whilst working with Council in connecting the community to leisure.

Belgravia has committed to retaining all current staff who wish to continue with their employment at Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre and are expected to arrive in the city next week to begin the transition process with the YMCA."
