A man has been charged following an investigation into alleged intimidation and firearms offences in Bellambi.
About 3.15am on Tuesday (16 September 2025), a 30-year-old man attended an address on Meadow Street, Fairy Meadows, allegedly wielding a chainsaw before he threatened occupants of a home and damaged a car with a baseball bat.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 September 2025), police stopped a vehicle on Pioneer Street, Corrimal, before they arrested the driver – a 30-year-old man.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station.
A search warrant was executed the same day at Rothery Street, Bellambi, where police allegedly seized firearms and ammunition, a chainsaw, and clothing with police insignia.
The man was charged with:
- Threaten person with intent to influence a witness
- Do act to pervert the course of justice
- Damage property
- Possess unauthorised firearm (two counts)
- Not keep firearm safely
- Possess ammunition
- Possess police uniform; and,
- Possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court today (Thursday 18 September 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Thursday 2 October 2025.
