Bentleigh East burglar

Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man following a burglary in Bentleigh East last week.

Investigators have been told a man riding an electric scooter attended an address on Valkstone Street about 4.45pm on 11 January.

The man searched through a letterbox before entering the backyard via a side gate.

He then unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to the residence before fleeing on the scooter with a number of tools and a jacket.

Investigators have release images of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, was wearing a distinctive black baseball cap with a red pattern on the side, a blue Ralph Lauren t-shirt, black shorts, grey runners, and was carrying a black Reebok sports bag.

The man also had a distinctive circular tattoo on his right elbow.
