Berkeley Man's $1M Win Spurs Bedtime Brainstorms

The Lott

A Berkeley man was pleased to be counting zeros rather than sheep after checking his Weekday Windfall ticket before bed, only to discover he had pocketed a dreamy $1 million.

The Wollongong resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4551, drawn Monday 26 May 2025. He can look forward to $1 million.

When we called to confirm the win, the thrilled winner shared how he made the happy mistake of checking his ticket just before bed.

"I've been waiting for your call!" he laughed.

"It's very impressive. Thank you very much.

"I couldn't believe my eyes. I saw the winning numbers and I thought, 'Hang on. Those are all my numbers. Am I looking at the right thing?'.

"Then I opened my app, and sure enough, they were all my numbers. The balloons and confetti went across my screen, and I went into total shock.

"I said to my wife, 'What the hell do we do with all this money?'. Then we just stayed up for hours talking about 100 different ideas.

"Although we were fantasising of all the possibilities, we won't rush into anything.

"For starters, we'll take a couple of deep breaths and come up with a plan. First order of business is paying off our house.

"Funnily enough, I've been playing these numbers for 30 years. I once won $4,000 with them. Now they've really come through!"

His winning marked System 8 entry was purchased via The Lott app - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
