Construction of new under-road drainage culverts on Myack Street in Berridale is complete and all affected roads have reopened.
Finishing ahead of schedule and on budget, the newly installed culverts are a significant improvement to local drainage and will help mitigate the effects of future flooding and severe wet weather.
All roadworks associated with the culvert works are now complete, with line-marking completed Thursday 13 August 2026. Myack Street and Park Street reopened to traffic on Friday 14 August 2026.
The completed culverts mark an early milestone in Council's Berridale Master Plan initiative, a long-term plan to improve public amenities and infrastructure in the growing town.
Plans for additional drainage improvements and flood resilience measures in Berridale remain under active development. Council will pursue grants and other funding support for these planned projects as opportunities arise.
Some final minor works are planned for the weeks ahead.
A new concrete slab will be poured at the far end of Memorial Park for the World War II-era Bofors anti-aircraft gun currently situated at the Berridale War Memorial. The new location, identified in the Berridale Master Plan, will ensure the approximately 90-year-old weapon is better protected from flooding, wet weather and traffic.
Park Street will be closed briefly while the gun is moved to its new location in approximately two weeks' time, weather permitting.
Following the relocation of the anti-aircraft gun, new creek batters to help control erosion and flooding will be built alongside the culverts. Local traffic will be unaffected.
