Mount Gambier Library will welcome back best-selling Australian author Fiona Lowe with the launch of her ninth contemporary novel, The Drowning on Tuesday 17 March 2026 at 6:30pm.
Widely anticipated as Fiona's most gripping mystery yet, The Drowning follows CC Cilento and her four cousins, as they continue their summer tradition at the family beach house into adulthood. When they unexpectedly inherit the property, what starts out as the perfect gift to keep the family connected quickly turns into an emotional power struggle that threatens to tear the family apart. The struggle escalates further after a body is discovered on the beach.
As part of Mount Gambier Library's continued commitment to delivering high quality literary experiences, City of Mount Gambier Community Development Coordinator Kristi Brooks acknowledged the strong connection readers have with the acclaimed author.
"Fiona Lowe is a highly popular author amongst our readers, and we have been fortunate enough to host her year on year with her blockbuster titles Daughter of Mine, Home Fires, The Money Club and The Accident," Kristi said.
While Fiona's latest stories are triggered by secret and mystery, exploring modern themes such as elder abuse, the impacts of fire, greed, racism and displacement, she started her writing career in the romance genre which saw her recipient of the prestigious USA RITA award and two Australian RuBY awards.
"With more than 40 titles to her name, Fiona's novels have captivated readers around the country. She is known for her emotional depth and authentic characters, drawing on her real-life experiences from her earlier career as a midwife, sexual health counsellor and family support worker," Kristi said.
