Council is carrying strong momentum into 2026, with several key road projects progressing well and new works set to begin in the coming weeks. These improvements reflect Council's ongoing commitment to a safer, more reliable local road network.

Director of Infrastructure Leah Johnston said the current projects demonstrate careful planning and effective delivery across multiple key locations.

Tyntynder Road - Works Underway

Road pavement upgrades on Tyntynder Road commenced on 7 January 2026, with crews now well into the program and road sealing scheduled to commence tomorrow. Works are being carried out along a section of Tyntynder Road towards Speewa Punt Road. To support safety during construction, the road remains open to local residents only, with reduced speed limits in place throughout the work zone.

"The Tyntynder Road project is progressing well and remains on schedule, and we thank local residents for their patience during these works," Ms Johnston said.

Completion is expected between mid and late February 2026.

Quambatook Road - Works Beginning Mid-February

Pavement reconstruction and road widening works on Quambatook Road are scheduled to commence from mid-February 2026, with works to be carried out along the section of road between Oppenlander Road and the Kelly/Fox intersection. Tree trimming works are currently in progress, and temporary speed restrictions may be in place.

Council will endeavour to keep one lane open wherever possible, with traffic control and reduced speed limits in place during active work periods. Some temporary full closures will be required to complete the works safely.

"Quambatook Road works are significant upgrades, and we are working to minimise disruption while ensuring the best long-term outcomes for road users," Ms Johnston said.

The works are expected to be completed by late June 2026.

Beveridge Street (Little Beveridge) - Works Underway

Works on Beveridge Street, commonly known as Little Beveridge, begun in late January 2026. The section of Beveridge Street between Gray Street and Connell Street.

Due to the nature of both pavement and drainage works, the road will be fully closed for the duration of the project. However, Council will ensure ongoing access for emergency services and garbage collection throughout the closure.

"The Beveridge Street project is progressing well and on track for completion by the end of February 2026," Ms Johnston said.

Ms Johnston said these works represent another step forward in maintaining and improving a large and diverse road network.

"While construction can cause temporary inconvenience, each of these projects will deliver long-term benefits in safety, durability and usability for our community," she said.

Council thanks residents and road users for their patience and cooperation as teams continue delivering a safer, stronger road network for our region.
