Northern Tasmanians who want a better health future need a re-elected Liberal Government.
The $647.5 million LGH Precinct Masterplan will include a new Northern Health Complex to future-proof the precinct for decades to come, with construction starting in 2028.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said a re-elected Liberal Government will build a brand new seven-storey Northern Health Complex at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH), providing an additional 250 beds.
"The Tasmanian Liberal Government is building a better health system, rebuilding each of our major hospitals over the last decade, after the Labor Green Government left them to crumble," Premier Rockliff said.
"This new building will secure capacity in the public system and support the viability of further services in the North, helping attract and retain health professionals, including specialists, to the region.
"We will work with health professionals and the community to ensure that the development is state-of-the-art and fit-for-purpose, now and into the future.
"In Launceston, we have already delivered the new women's and children's precinct, as well as the new helipad.
"Work is underway for the Northern Heart Centre, the new Mental Health Precinct at Frankland Street, the new multi-storey car park and the expanded emergency department.
"The Tasmanian Liberal Government has a strong plan to build better hospitals, and we're determined to get on with that plan.
"Tasmanians are sick of the politics. They want action. They want stability. And they want it now.
"This election comes down to one choice: a strong Liberal team with a real plan or another merry-go-round of chaos and compromise.
"Let's get on with it.
"Let's finish the job for Tasmania."
The new Northern Health Complex will be funded through reprioritised capital from Marinus from the 2025-26 Budget and will form part of our capital investment profile in years not currently included in the Budget and Forward Estimates.
