Local shoppers and businesses in Beverly Hills will benefit from free parking at the Edgbaston Road Park&Ride car park, as a result of changes made by the Minns Labor Government.
Responding to community feedback to unlock parking that supports local businesses, non-commuters will be allowed to park for free for up to three hours when they enter after 10am on weekdays and anytime on weekends.
Currently car park users who are not commuting on the Opal network have to pay a $30 flat fee on weekdays, or the $10 flat fee after 5pm on weekdays and on weekends.
Commencing on August 31, the three hours of free parking will make it easier and cheaper for people to visit local shops, restaurants and attend appointments, whilst continuing to prioritise public transport customers.
The car park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is accessible via 2-2A Edgbaston Road, Beverly Hills. For stays longer than three hours on weekdays a $30 flat fee will still apply but on weekends and public holidays, a flat $5 fee applies after the three hours expires.
Park&Ride customers who complete a public transport journey can continue to access up to 18 hours of free parking each day by tapping on and tapping off with an accepted Opal card, or a credit/debit card linked to a Transport Connect account.
This additional parking offer will initially form part of a 12-month trial. After the trial period, Transport for NSW will evaluate customer usage, community feedback and operational impacts to determine the future of the arrangements.
Transport for NSW's Park&Ride network encourages public transport use and improves connections to metro, train, bus and ferry services across the state.
