BHP's journey with the Adelaide Crows AFLW team will continue with the Australian resources company recommitting as a Co-Major Sponsor in a new five-year agreement.
This partnership will allow the Club to continue to build on its already successful women's football program, while also championing the Club's broader women's football initiatives.
BHP's renewed support will include being match day sponsor of the annual AFLW Indigenous Round, while also partnering with the Club to host a number of events and activations in the Upper Spencer Gulf and Far North regions, including women's football carnivals and competitions.
BHP will continue to hold a prominent position on the traditional tri-colour hooped jumper and will be a strong match-day presence throughout the season.
Adelaide Football Club CEO Tim Silvers described the new long-term agreement as significant for women's sport in general, adding the Club was excited to once again partner with a company that held a shared vision for the game and gender equality.
"We have always wanted to be the club of choice for young girls and women who hold aspirations or want to fulfil their potential as a player, coach, administrator or fan," Silvers said.
"We have made great progress and BHP has played an instrumental role in helping us establish a highly successful women's football program, both on and off the field, and supporting many young women to realise their dreams.
"The overall growth of women's football, not just in South Australia but across the country, has been incredible and we look forward to continuing to take the game to the next level and beyond."
BHP Olympic Dam Asset President Jennifer Purdie said the renewed partnership was an important step forward to ensure the company continues to provide more opportunities for women.
"At BHP, we believe there is no job a woman can't do – whether that's running on to the field for a game of AFL, or working at an operation like Olympic Dam," Purdie said.
"We have supported the Adelaide Crows AFLW side since 2018 and this strengthened partnership will allow us to continue to build on our shared ambitions to improve opportunity and equality in both business and sport, while empowering and inspiring young women.
"This incredibly exciting agreement also allows us to continue supporting communities across South Australia, including our key regional communities of Roxby Downs, Port Augusta and Whyalla, from a grassroots level – including young Aboriginal people."
BHP also holds a national partnership with the AFLW, which focuses on leadership and gender equality, while providing player development managers, and support for the BHP women's coaching and umpiring academies.
