Police are urging Blackmores Sydney Running Festival participants to plan ahead by collecting their race kit and dropping off their gear ahead of this weekend's event.
Race organisers are expecting large crowds around Town Hall from today (Thursday 15 September 2022), through to Saturday (17 September 2022), as participants prepare for the race at the ASICS Event Expo.
Approximately 28,000 people are registered to take part in the festival this Sunday (18 September 2022), so participants are encouraged to attend the expo early or expect delays.
A high-visibility police operation will be in place this weekend to ensure the safety and security of all participants, event staff and the wider community.
Operation Commander, Detective Superintendent Paul Devaney, urged participants to take this opportunity to plan ahead and visit the expo to ensure you're organised ahead of race day.
"To avoid any last-minute stress, our best advice is to plan ahead, which includes participants arriving at the Expo early to pick-up your event kit and drop off your finish-line belongings," Supt Devaney said.
"If you're unable to attend the expo, a friend or family member can attend with your race information on your behalf.
"With tens of thousands of people registered for the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, we are expecting large crowds to make their way to Town Hall over the next four days," Supt Devaney said.
Runners should plan their trip to the expo – and the race – by using the many public transport services on offer.
"We would encourage all participants heading to the expo over the next few days, and to the event on Sunday, to catch one of the many train and bus services available," Supt Devaney said.
