Rooty Hill Leisure Centre will host more than 120 gymnasts from Australia and overseas as part of a major tournament to take place in July.
The Blacktown City Council venue will be the stage for rhythmic and aesthetic group gymnastics competitions at the Marival Cup from 17 to 19 July.
The centre's matufa floor, designed for gymnastics, was part of the venue's appeal for joint organisers Australian Rhythmic Gymnastics and the Australian Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Federation (AAGGF).
The gymnasts and their supporters will travel from interstate, Asia and Europe for the amateur tournament.
Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting was delighted that Rooty Hill Leisure Centre would host the event.
"Our Council team takes great pride in providing quality venues for our community to keep active," he said.
"The fact that Rooty Hill Leisure Centre has been chosen to host an event of this magnitude shows the high standard our staff maintains."
The Federation has a long-standing relationship with Blacktown Council through its hiring of Rooty Hill Leisure Centre, owned and managed by Blacktown City Council. The centre hosts the Federation's headquarters and training facility.
Rooty Hill Leisure Centre has hosted the Marival Cup before and the event is going from strength to strength.
Tickets will be available for spectators. Details are available at australianrg.com/marivalcup.
