Blackwall Point Reserve Garden Upgrade Announced

The expansion of the much-loved Chiswick Community Garden and update to the toilet block at Blackwall Point Reserve invites more community members to enjoy this beautiful outdoor space.

The City of Canada Bay recently completed an expansion of Chiswick Community Garden at Blackwall Point Reserve, providing even more opportunities for residents to connect with neighbours, and grow and share fresh produce.

"Community gardens are wonderful examples of how communal green spaces can bring people together and improve people's health and wellbeing, and this expansion provides more local residents the space to get involved," City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said.

The upgraded garden now features new garden beds, compost bins, and fencing to support its growing membership and enhance sustainability. The project was jointly funded by the NSW Government's Community Building Partnership Program and the City of Canada Bay.

Alongside the garden expansion, Council also delivered important improvements to the public toilet facilities at Blackwall Point Reserve. The renewal works on the public amenities building included new fixtures and fittings, a new roof with a skylight panel to bring in natural light, and a relocated entry for improved accessibility.

Mayor Michael Megna said the updates reflect Council's ongoing commitment to providing accessible and well-maintained public amenities, as well as supporting community wellbeing.
