Bland Shire Council Maintains Strong Financial Position in 2024–25
Bland Shire Council has reaffirmed its strong financial standing following the presentation of its 2024–25 audited financial statements at the November Council Meeting.
Independent auditor Crowe Australasia provided a detailed summary of Council's financial performance, confirming that Bland Shire remains in a solid and sustainable position. Crowe commended Council for its disciplined approach to budgeting and long-term financial planning.
In a climate where regional councils across NSW are facing increasing cost pressures, tightening grant funding and rising service expectations, Crowe noted that Bland Shire Council has demonstrated the importance of being prudent, smart and strategic in managing community resources.
Council's 2025 financial statements show a stable overall position with strong asset holdings and low liabilities. While operating results and income were lower than in 2024, Council continued to record a positive net operating result and maintained healthy liquidity. Total equity increased over the year, reflecting ongoing investment in infrastructure and long-term assets. Despite the softer operating performance, Council remains in a sound financial position with manageable liabilities and a solid asset base.
Mayor Brian Monaghan said the positive audit result highlights Council's commitment to strong governance.
"Regional councils everywhere are navigating rising costs and significant financial pressures, so maintaining a solid financial footing is essential. I'm pleased that the audit confirms the strength of our financial management and our responsible approach to planning for the future."
