Bland Shire Council launches new Community Funding Program
Bland Shire Council has endorsed a new funding framework designed to strengthen local organisations, support community-led initiatives and encourage inclusive activities across the Shire.
At its Ordinary Meeting on 19 August 2025, Council resolved to place the Draft Bland Shire Community Funding Program Guidelines on public exhibition. Following a month-long consultation period, including an online distribution to stakeholder groups and a community information session, Council received two submissions, both supportive of the new program. Feedback regarding the challenges faced by smaller organisations in obtaining multiple quotes will be considered during the assessment stage.
The Bland Shire Community Funding Program 2025 brings together three key funding streams, providing greater certainty and transparency for community groups seeking support during the current Council term:

Community Support Donations

Mayor Brian Monaghan said the new program reflects Council's commitment to strengthening local communities and supporting the groups that bring people together.
"Our community groups are the heart of the Bland Shire. This program gives them the tools and certainty they need to continue delivering events, services and activities that make our towns and villages great places to live," Mayor Monaghan said.
The program complements existing support provided by Council, including rate rebates, contributions to sports academies and community events, and the Wyalong Community Benefit Fund, which will offer $30,000 per year for nine years from the Wyalong Solar Farm to support local projects. Promotion of this additional fund will commence shortly.
Over the past seven years, Council has provided nearly $380,000 in financial support to almost 60 community organisations.
With the guidelines now formally adopted, Council is ready to launch and promote the funding opportunities. Eligible community groups are encouraged to apply before the closing dates at the end of January 2026.
