Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Chairman of Israel's Yesh Atid party Yair Lapid. Secretary Blinken discussed the proposal to achieve an enduring ceasefire in Gaza as part of a hostage deal that would secure the release of all hostages and surge humanitarian assistance to Gaza. The Secretary commended Israel for the proposal and emphasized Hamas should take the deal without delay. He reiterated that the proposal would strengthen Israel's long-term security. The Secretary also emphasized the importance preventing further escalation of the conflict.
