Bloomfield trees removal application approved

Last night's Council meeting has voted in favour of removing 250 trees on the site of a proposed new sports precinct alongside the Jack Brabham sports fields.
The Council voted ten votes to one in favour of the tree removal DA.
The meeting listened as ten speakers from the community, five opposed and five in favour, spoke at the start of the meeting.
Numbers in the public gallery were limited due to COVID arrangements. 44 people watched the livestream coverage of the meeting from the theatre foyer.
It's expected that Council staff will now be in touch with the NSW Heritage Council to confirm the exact areas, in the vicinity of the proposed stadium and the athletics track, where the first trees will be removed.
It's expected that process will take a number of weeks before there is any movement on the site.
The application does not include all of the original trees proposed to be removed. The application dealt with 250 trees.
