Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails

The Liberal Government is a strong supporter of the Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails and we contributed $800,000 into their development from our Cycling Tourism Fund. The Government has also committed over $300,000 to support Series racing events at the trails.

We support the extension of the trails and Government agencies have been actively working with Dorset Council to facilitate the transfer of land required to extend the trails.

Advice from the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and the Environment is that there is no suggestion of mining activity on the land which has been identified by the Council for the new trails.

I’m advised by DPIPWE that the Council wishes to move their Works Depot onto a site which has an active mining lease near Lake Derby. The Government is working to find a suitable solution with Council and the mining lease holder.
