Expressions of interest for two new Western Australian Health Service Provider Boards are now open.
In accordance with the Health Services Act 2016, the boards will provide governance for the operations of PathWest and Health Support Services from July 1, 2020.
PathWest is the pathology arm of the Western Australian Government and WA’s leading referral pathology laboratory with a network of 25 laboratories and more than 50 collection centres across the State.
Health Support Services (HSS) is the shared services centre for the Western Australian public health system. HSS provides a suite of services that includes information and communications technology, financial, procurement and supply and employee and payroll services to support Western Australian public hospitals and health services to deliver excellent health care.
The Board members will be selected following a rigorous selection process, with a balance of male and female members, including at least three health professionals, some of whom are still practising.
Further information can be found at https://www.health.wa.gov.au/PathwestHSSBoards. The Expression of Interest submission period closes on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 5pm (WST).
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
“It is essential that our health services have clear and transparent governance. The Health Services Act 2016 has enhanced this accountability considerably.
“The establishment of these two Boards, PathWest and Health Support Services, will provide an additional layer of integrity to the operations of the WA health system.”
