Body found in search for missing woman at Wagga Wagga

A body, believed to be that of a woman who was last seen entering the river at Wagga Wagga yesterday, has been located.

About 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 27 April 2023) emergency services were called to the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga, following reports a woman had entered the water and not resurfaced.

A multi-agency search of the river commenced, involving officers from Riverina Police District, Police Divers, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, and VRA Rescue NSW.

Efforts resumed today, and following a comprehensive search, at about 1.20pm (Friday 28 April 2023), a body was located by police divers, near the area where the woman was last seen.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the 39-year-old woman.

Officers from Riverina Police District will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
