Body found on property where father-and son fugitives arrested

A body has been located on a property in the northwest NSW town of Dunedoo, where police arrested Gino and Mark Stocco, NSW police said.

The men were arrested at a property on Tonniges Road at Elong Elong shortly before midday (Wednesday 28 October 2015), following a covert operation involving officers from Western Region, New England Local Area Command, the Tactical Operations Unit, Aviation Support Branch, and State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

Following the arrests, police located the body of a man at the property.

While he has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of a 68-year-old man who has been missing since Thursday 8 October 2015.

The cause of his death is not yet known.

A crime scene has been established at the property and will be examined by specialist forensic officers.

Strike Force Peta has been formed by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad to investigate the incident.
