PET/CT Improves Detection of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma
A multicenter study prospectively compared two PET/CT approaches in 68 patients with renal cell carcinoma. In clear cell renal cell carcinoma, the targeted 68Ga-DPI-4452 PET/CT approach achieved 98.2 percent diagnostic accuracy and detected 97.9 percent of lesions, compared with 76.8 percent diagnostic accuracy and 47.1 percent lesion detection with standard 18F-FDG PET/CT.
SSTR Antagonists Show Potential for Imaging and Treatment of Neuroendocrine Tumors
A review examines the use of somatostatin receptor antagonists for imaging and targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy in neuroendocrine tumors. Studies suggest these agents may improve tumor detection and provide favorable tumor uptake and dosimetry, including in patients with progressive disease after previous treatments. However, evidence remains limited and heterogeneous, with concerns about hematologic toxicity.
Exploring Alternative Beta-Emitting Radionuclides for Targeted Radiopharmaceutical Therapy
A review examines alternative beta-emitting radionuclides that have reached clinical evaluation, including 67Cu, 153Sm, 161Tb, 166Ho, 186Re, and 188Re. The "β-atlas" reviews their production, availability of global production centers, and clinical evidence, highlighting opportunities and challenges in developing these radionuclides for targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy.
