Body located after house fire - Northmead

The body of a woman has been located following a house fire at Northmead this morning.

About 9.30am (Friday 14 January 2022), emergency services were called to a home at Hammers Road, Northmead, following reports of a house fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

The body of a woman was located inside. She is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Local road closures are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area and check www.livetraffic.com for updates.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
