Body of man found in Hawkesbury River

The body of a man has been found following a search operation in the Hawkesbury River near Wisemans Ferry yesterday.

About 2.50pm (Saturday 14 December 2019), emergency services were called to the Hawkesbury River in Leets Vale, following reports a man jumped off a cliff face into the water and did not resurface.

A search operation took place involving officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command, Blue Mountains Police Rescue, Police Divers, NSW SES and NSW Rural Fire Service.

The body of a man, believed to be aged 26, was located submerged in the river by Police Divers just after 6.30pm. He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
