Body of man located - Murray River

A body, believed to be that of a man who went missing while swimming at Tocumwal at the weekend, has been located.

A 23-year-old man, was seen swimming across the river at Tocumwal, 80km south-east of Deniliquin, about 4pm on Sunday (29 December 2019), when he went under and did not re-surface.

Officers from Murray River Police District and local SES volunteers, assisted by Marine Rescue from Moama, have been searching the river and riverbanks for the man since that time, without success.

Just after 9am today (Tuesday 31 December 2019), the body of a man was located near Pebbly Beach. He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
