Body of missing man from Mildura recovered in Murray River at Buronga

The body of a missing man has been recovered from a river on the state's NSW/Victoria border today.

A 94-year-old man was reported missing to Victoria Police in June, when he could not be located, and inquiries commenced into his whereabouts.

Following inquires, a mobility scooter was found at the edge of the Murray River near a walking track on Hugh King Drive, Mildura, about 2.20pm on Monday (20 June 2022).

Officers from Barrier Police District, who were assisting Victoria Police in the search for the man, extended the search to include areas around the Murray River in NSW.

About 9.30am today (Friday 29 July 2022), emergency services were called to the Murray River, Buronga, after the body of a man was located. He is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be that of the missing man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
