Body of missing swimmer found in Mildura

The body of a man who went missing while swimming in the Murray River has been found today.

Police have been told about 8.10pm yesterday (Friday 1 March 2019), three men entered the Murray River from a caravan park on Cureton Avenue at Mildura, Victoria, when a 26-year-old Malaysian National, got into difficulty in the water.

The two other men, aged 25 and 26, did not see him resurface and notified emergency services.

A joint search operation continued today (Saturday 2 March 2019), involving officers from Barrier Police District, Victoria Police, and Victoria SES.

Just before 5.30pm, the body of a man, believed to be that of a 26-year-old Malaysian National, was found in the water by Victorian Police divers.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers from Barrier Police District will prepare a report for the Coroner.
