Body of missing swimmer located at Wagga Beach

The body of a man who went missing while swimming in the Murrumbidgee River has been located.

Just after 1pm (Wednesday 25 December 2019), emergency services were contacted after a 25-year-old Victorian man failed to resurface while swimming at Wagga Beach.

Officers from Riverina Police District responded and a search for the man was launched with the assistance of the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association, NSW State Emergency Service, NSW Ambulance and the Toll Ambulance Helicopter.

About 2.15pm, the man's body was located in the water a short distance from where he was last seen.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
