Bollon Road Upgrade Enhances Maranoa Travel

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Motorists travelling between Mitchell and Bollon, in Queensland's central south, can now enjoy more sealed road following the completion of a major bitumen upgrade on Bollon Road.

More than 12 kilometres of new bitumen has been delivered across three stages, funded in partnership with the Albanese Government.

Construction of a further 3.8 kilometres of the Bollon Road upgrade is also nearing completion.

The Albanese Government's $24 million funding contribution covers these works, along with further bitumen extensions on Redford Road and Yuleba Surat Road.

The bitumen extensions to Bollon Road, the longest road in the Maranoa region at around 190 kilometres, will mean less gravel, less dust and more reliable access for residents and producers who use this road daily, especially in wet weather.

The Bollon Road upgrade forms part of Maranoa Regional Council's $40.8 million Roads and Drainage program in the 2025/26 Budget.
