Bonza Airlines' Inaugural Flight Lands in Launceston, Tasmania

Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Tourism

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is thrilled to welcome Bonza Airlines' inaugural flight from Gold Coast to Launceston.

This is the low-cost airlines first flight into Tasmania, with the new service being offered three times a week, providing even more options for travellers and Tasmanians.

Premier and Minister for Tourism, Jeremy Rockliff, said these additional services to and from Queensland will support our tourism and business operators ahead of the summer season.

"Importantly, these services will give more Queenslanders the opportunity to come down for air in our cooler months to enjoy uniquely Tasmanian experiences," Premier Rockliff said.

"For the year ending June 2023, Tasmania saw over 226,000 visitors from Queensland, with more than half of those travellers visiting Launceston.

"This new service will mean more than 29,000 additional seats every year, coming to Launceston. This boost will support Tasmania's growing visitor economy and the small businesses within it."

The Tasmanian Government is delivering on its long-term plan to grow our visitor economy, supporting businesses and local jobs.

"We will continue to build capacity and frequency to and from Tasmania, providing more travel choices for Tasmanian communities and visitors, and creating a competitive environment for flight prices," Premier Rockliff said.
