Boorai Centre to reopen next week

The City has determined that the Boorai Centre will remain closed for the remainder of this week and reopen on Monday 20 July.

The City has undertaken an extensive, deep clean of the whole facility, in line with the Department of Health and Human Service's (DHHS) COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

All identified close contacts of the confirmed COVID-19 case have undergone a coronavirus test. To date, no test has returned a positive result.

Following further direction today from the DHHS, we are exercising some caution and not re-opening the centre until next Monday.

The centre has been shut since Friday 10 July, after the DHHS advised the City that a child who attended the centre on Thursday 2 July had contracted COVID-19.

The child did not display any symptoms and was not visibly unwell on the day.

Greater Geelong Chief Executive Officer Martin Cutter

This decision has been taken as the safety of our families, and the safety of the wider Geelong community, is our highest priority. We are working closely with the DHHS and providing the level of information and support it requires.
