Boosting Social Unity via Improved Community Facilities

Department of Home Affairs

Joint media release with the Hon Anne Aly MP

The Albanese Government is investing in the community infrastructure that brings people together and strengthens our social cohesion.

Multicultural organisations across Australia will share in $40 million in funding for shovel-ready locally driven infrastructure upgrades, delivering lasting value for our communities and regions.

The Infrastructure for Multicultural Communities grants support the construction, upgrade or extension of infrastructure used by multicultural communities. This includes community centres, museums, meeting facilities, stages for performing arts, sporting facilities and security upgrades.

This practical investment will enhance social cohesion by creating spaces that encourage connection, inclusion and participation across the wider community.

This investment will deliver lasting local benefit by improving the spaces multicultural communities rely on, while also creating work for local businesses, trades, suppliers and contractors.

Applications for the Infrastructure for Multicultural Communities grants open on 7 April 2026.
