The 2025-26 Annual Report was adopted at the Council meeting on Monday 12 October 2026, highlighting what we've delivered for our community and how we're planning for Boroondara's future.
It's our first Annual Report delivering on the Boroondara Community Plan 2025-35, shaped by more than 5,600 community contributions. It shows how we're working towards our shared vision for a healthy, connected and sustainable community.
Council remains in a sound financial position, helping us continue to provide the services, facilities and infrastructure our community relies on. We recorded a $23.4 million operating surplus, which reflects Council's ability to fund day-to-day services while planning for the future renewal and replacement of community assets such as roads, footpaths, buildings and parks. Our underlying result of $17.19 million shows Council remains financially sustainable.
Our community: healthy, inclusive and connected
We supported people of all ages and abilities through community events, health programs and services. More than 8,500 people enjoyed 14 free Summer in the Park events and we delivered more than 20,000 vaccinations. Events including Midsumma Festival, Lunar New Year and Cultural Diversity Week also brought people together and celebrated our diverse community.
Our places: vibrant, accessible and thriving
We invested in the places our community uses every day, including $16.5 million to renew roads and footpaths and upgrades to 4 play spaces.
Work continued on major community facilities, including the new Kew Recreation Centre, Michael Tuck Stand and Glenferrie Oval, sports pavilions and plans to refresh Kew Library.
We also purchased the former Kilby Park Tree Farm site in Kew East, creating an opportunity for future community open space.
Our environment: sustainable and resilient
We continued working towards a greener Boroondara, diverting 40,410 tonnes of household waste from landfill and planting around 54,000 indigenous plants in local biodiversity areas.
Boroondara BooST helped households improve their energy efficiency, while new electricity pole-mounted EV chargers made charging more accessible.
Our Council: trusted and responsive
We continued working with Traditional Owners and First Peoples and created more opportunities for our community to have a say. Our consultation website, Your Say Boroondara, received around 115,000 visits, helping community feedback shape local projects, plans and services.
We also continued planning for Boroondara's long-term financial sustainability and the community assets people rely on.
